 Our History

kanoheda building
Kanoheda Elementary School opened in the Fall of 1994 in the Berkmar Cluster of Gwinnett County. We are located in Lawrenceville, Georgia, just outside of Atlanta. We are a multi-cultural school with countries from Latin America to Asia and everywhere in between represented. The diversity of the school allows us to appreciate and understand many cultures, and hopefully makes us more understanding when interacting with new people. Our school name comes from a Cherokee Indian word meaning "Truths Passed Through Generations". The land on which the school is situated was once occupied by Creek Indians. Trying to keep the history of the area, a Cherokee Indian name was chosen.

Our Mission

The mission of Kanoheda Elementary School is to provide a quality learning experience for all members of our school community.
